HOW TO READ COFFEE GROUNDS
How to read coffee grounds in a cup. Needed utensils - Cup preparation.
Having the correct utensils, is the starting point on how to read coffee grounds.

You don’t need expensive items at all.

First of all buy a small coffee pot (like the one for butter melting). I saw some people using small saucepans. Not a bad idea. As long as you are able to make it is fine.

Second and the most important, buy any powder style ground coffee. Make sure that is similar to Greek/Turkish coffee.

Many other nations have their own brands though. Balkan region, Armenia, Israel and the Arab world are just a few of them.

Be careful here not to use regular coffee for drip machines, French press or even espresso. Their grounds will create almost invisible images. Go with the real stuff!

Last, but not least, utensil is a plain, white demitasse cup. The small one that you use for your espresso is just fine. Avoid the patterned cups and the tea cups or mugs.

Their large capacity makes it impossible to drink a strong coffee like this. On the other hand their enormous surface will not be able to hold the grounds properly and create images.

So, now you made the correct coffee and you enjoyed it to the last drop. Recently I received an e-mail asking me for a cup reading, without photos! He meant to drink the coffee on his behalf. This is a NO-NO.

I noticed that a few of the cup readers do that but I believe that is pure exploitation of people. I think that there is no need to elaborate on that.

How you can read the coffee grounds? They just look like sludge at the bottom of the cup.

Here comes the next step which we call it “Preparation of the cup”.
You place the saucer at the top of the cup. Turn it counter-clockwise for a couple of times (the ritual says 3). Now turn it upside and let the cup cool on the saucer for 10 minutes or so.

After that you can start interpreting the symbols of the cup.
